Backfire 10.03 (20974)

(Click to download)
brcm47xxBased on revision 20974 of the OpenWrt Backfire branch, this firmware includes support for Internode's native IPv6 service.

*** Wireless now also works ***

The firewall6 package provides a modified version of the UCI firewall that supports ip6tables.

A ULA IPv6 address (fd00::1/64) is configured on the loopback interface, and is advertised on the local network as a DNS server (via both the WIDE DHCPv6 server and radvd).

The Avahi daemon provides a .local domain that enables automatic IPv6 name resolution on the LAN for operating systems that support mDNS/Zeroconf/Bonjour.

Refer to the /etc/nativev6/README file for further information (Note: no manual installation is required if you install this firmware).

All IPv6 related services are pre-configured.  You just need to set the correct username and password for the PPPoE WAN interface via the LuCI web GUI.

There is currently no LuCI web interface support for the configuration of dhcp6c, dhcp6s, firewall6 or radvd.

Note: This firmware has been pre-configured for, and tested with Internode's native IPv6 service only, and I cannot guarantee it will work with any other ISP.

  • WIDE DHCPv6 client
  • WIDE DHCPv6 server
  • radvd
  • IPv6 firewall
  • Avahi mDNS server
  • Dynamic DNS
  • uPnP
  • NTP client
  • QoS
  • LuCI web interface

Note: If you use the TFTP upgrade method and require a different "bin" file for your particular model, send me an email or whim me on Whirlpool (Andrew-ACT).

If you wish to use one of the official OpenWrt images (e.g. your router doesn't use the brcm47xx target), the following steps can be used to get IPv6 going after installation:
  1. Edit /etc/opkg.conf (in LuCI, via System -> Software) and add the following line "src nativev6 http://www.users.on.net/~abyrne/openwrt/all/packages"
  2. Update the package list in LuCI (or "opkg update" via the shell)
  3. Install the nativev6 package (it will install all the other dependent packages)
  4. Read the instructions in /etc/nativev6/README to complete the configuration
